Educating

Parents face particular challenges in balancing family and career. To ensure that their (re-)entry into the world of work is a success, the Stuttgart Job Center supports mothers and fathers at an early stage and provides information on the topics of career orientation, job applications, continuing education and more.

You want to get back into the working world? The Jobcenter helps you to combine family and career well.

Do you receive citizen's allowance, have children and would like to return to work or start training now or in the foreseeable future? Are you expecting a child soon and would like to find out about your future career options? Or would you like to find out what  cash benefits you and your children are entitled to as part of the basic income support for jobseekers?

The personal contacts at the Jobcenter Stuttgart will be happy to advise you on your career prospects, tailored to your individual life situation. Simply make an appointment at the  Jobcenter branch office (opens in a new tab) in your place of residence.

Childcare

Reliable childcare is a prerequisite for equal participation of women and men in the labor market. Young children in particular, who are not yet at school, require a lot of attention and need secure care. Your personal contact at the Jobcenter will be happy to advise you on your options and provide you with information on all aspects of childcare.

  • Childcare places
The  Youth Welfare Office is the right point of contact for all questions relating to childcare in daycare facilities.
  • Childcare during participation in measures
The Jobcenter Stuttgart offers many educational measures that take your family circumstances into account. For example, there are part-time training and qualification opportunities. You can obtain further information from your personal contact at the Jobcenter.

Problems in the family

The Stuttgart Job Center works closely with many other authorities and counseling centers and is part of numerous networks. As a result, the personal contact persons can point you in the direction of suitable counseling centers that can help you and your family in difficult life situations.

Get in touch if you receive benefits from the Job Center and, for example:

  • are a single parent and need child care
  • are looking for information and help for pregnant women
  • family problems are making it difficult for you to work
  • have addiction problems
  • have debts

Make an appointment at the  Jobcenter branch office (opens in a new tab) where you live.

Education and participation benefits

Children, adolescents and young adults also receive benefits for  education and participation in addition to the monthly benefits from the Job Center (unemployment benefit II, social benefit). For schoolchildren, these include, for example, excursions and school trips, lunch at school and daycare centers, school tickets and learning support; for children and young people under 18, they also receive support for membership in a sports club and music lessons.

With the exception of the "learning support" benefit, no separate application is required for these benefits. Education and participation benefits are automatically applied for with every application for unemployment benefit II.
