Practical examples for a livable city
The sustainability goals of the United Nations can only be achieved together. This is why the state capital of Stuttgart is working with the broad urban alliance " mEIN Stuttgart mEINE Welt (opens in a new tab)" to achieve the goals of Agenda 2030 at a local level. Here we present a wide range of concrete measures taken by the state capital to implement the sustainability goals. The practical examples are taken from the 2019, 2021, 2023 and 2025 reports.

Local authorities and partnerships between all social stakeholders play a central role in its implementation. The 17 goals cover a wide range of topics such as climate protection measures, no poverty, less inequality, decent work and sustainable cities and communities. Stuttgart's commitment also strengthens the United Nations' global sustainability goals locally. At the United Nations High-level Political Forum in New York in July 2025, the state capital, as part of the German delegation, showed how local sustainability can have a global impact.
