iKfz: deregister motor vehicle online (deregistration)

• Registration document part I (formerly vehicle registration document) with security code
• License plate with stamp stickers with concealed security code
• Bank details (IBAN)
• Note: No identification of the owner required

1. Call up the i-Kfz portal of the responsible registration authority
2. Enter the license plate number of the vehicle in the application mask of the i-Kfz-Portal
3. Uncover the security code of the registration certificate part I
4. Remove the cover from the stamp stickers on the license plate (note: as soon as the security codes are exposed, the license plate is invalid and the vehicle may no longer be used on the road)
5. Enter the released security codes in the application mask of the i-Kfz portal
6. If necessary, reserve the license plate number if you wish to re-register the vehicle with the same license plate number in the same registration district at a later date
7. Application data is automatically validated
8. Payment of the fee via an ePayment system, payment method may vary depending on the responsible registration authority
9. Confirm entries and application
10. Application is automatically checked in real time
11. Confirmation of decommissioning immediately available online
12. The registration authority sends an information letter about the deregistration by post to the owner's address stored in the Central Vehicle Register (ZFZR)
