Passport application - express

If you discover shortly before your trip abroad that your passport has expired, an express passport can be a lifesaver. It usually takes up to 5 working days before it can be issued. Please note that there is a higher fee for the express passport than for the regular passport.

Note: The express passport has the same validity as the regular passport applied for. It is valid for ten years, six years for persons under the age of 24. Passports cannot be extended. You must therefore apply for a new passport when your old one expires.

In particularly urgent cases, the  temporary passport is an even faster option than the express passport. The temporary passport is valid for a maximum of one year and not for all countries.
