With a declaration of commitment, you undertake to cover any costs incurred by the public authorities for the duration of the stay.

You must come in person to the Servicepointof the Immigration Office (Eberhardstraße 39) or to a citizens' office to sign the declaration of commitment and submit the required documents.

Personal appearance at the citizens' office or the aliens' registration office with original personal document (passport, travel document or identity card).
In the case of a foreign inviter: proof of legal residence in the federal territory (residence title)
Completed leaflet invitation or the following data:
- Indication of your profession
- Surname of the visitor
- First name of the visitor
- Birthday and place of the visitor
- Nationality of the visitor
- Passport number of the visitor
- Address of the visitor abroad
- Your relationship to the visitor
- If the spouse of the visitor is to enter the country, please indicate surname, first name, date of birth and sex.
- If children of your visitor are to enter the country, please indicate surname, first name and date of birth

Fees
Declaration of commitment (32-41)
Costs: 29 euros
Special regulation: If a declaration of commitment is submitted by more than one person, the fees must be charged accordingly, i.e. if two people submit a declaration of commitment, the fees must be charged twice. The fees must also be charged if creditworthiness cannot be proven and cannot be made credible.

At the moment, waiting times of up to 2 hours must be expected at the citizens' offices. In the event of very high visitor numbers and the associated longer waiting and processing times, the issue of waiting tokens must regularly be stopped before the end of office hours.
Passport and registration matters are currently being processed as a priority. If you visit the Citizens' Office in connection with registering or re-registering your place of residence or applying for an ID card or passport, you can also deal with your registration matters there. For registration matters on your own, please contact the registration office.
