Apply for a declaration of commitment for longer-term residence (e.g. training, voluntary services, language course and studies)

If you would like to invite someone from abroad for a longer-term stay (over 90 days) who requires a visa to enter the country, you must sign a declaration of commitment.

With this declaration, you undertake to cover any costs incurred by the public authorities for the duration of the stay. The duration of the commitment is generally five years. The period of five years begins with the entry of the invited person.

You must appear in person, as you must provide a signature. You will need to present a written power of attorney and the original of your passport or identity card.

Note: If you do not live in Stuttgart, you cannot submit a formal obligation here.
