Register residence - as main residence

You are moving to Stuttgart?
Then you need to register at the Bürger-Büro.
You can do this in person at the Bürger-Büro.

And you can do that via the Internet.
You must register in Stuttgart within 2 weeks after the move
.

There are 22 citizens' offices in Stuttgart.

You do the registration personally at the Bürger-Büro?
Due to the move, you may have to do other things as well.
You can do that right then in the Bürger-Büro.
For example:

  • Change the address on your identity card.

This can be done with a sticker.
And you can do it on the chip of your ID card.

  • Change the address in your passport.
  • Change the address on your electronic residence title.

A person from abroad lives in Germany.
For this, the person needs a residence title.

  • Change the address in the vehicle registration document of your car.
  • Get a parking permit for residents.

With it you are allowed to park on certain parking lots.

  • Get the "Family Card" for Stuttgart.

You may not need to register.
For example, if you are in Stuttgart because of work
or education.
And you do not stay longer than 6 months in Stuttgart.
Or if you come to Stuttgart from abroad.
And you will not stay in Stuttgart for longer than 3 months.
Then ask at the Bürger-Büro.

To do this, enter your data at the service portal
from the state of Baden-Württemberg.

The service account is free of charge.

With the service account Baden-Württemberg you can safely
contact with the administration.
For example, with the citizens' office.
You can make applications via the Internet.
And you can also get answers via the Internet.
Perhaps you need certain documents frequently?
Then you can store them securely in the service account.
Then you can access these documents from anywhere.

What is the procedure?

You can register in person at the Citizen's Office.

You live together with your family?
And you are also moving together with your family.

Then you can do the registration also for your family.
For this you need to bring the ID cards of the people in your family.

Your children do not have a children's travel passport?
Then please bring the birth certificate of the child.
The family can be together on one registration certificate.

You can also give a power of attorney to another person.
A power of attorney is a kind of letter.
With the power of attorney you give another person permission to do
something for you.
However, the power of attorney only ever counts for one specific thing.
With the power of attorney, the other person is allowed to make the registration for you.
The person with the power of attorney must also bring your ID.

Note:
You are moving out of your old apartment.
Then you do not have to deregister at the Bürger-Büro.
This happens automatically with the registration.
