If you would like a certificate or a certified copy from the marriage or civil partnership register, the birth register or the death register, you can order these online: service.stuttgart.de (opens in a new tab).
You will receive the certificate by post. The time of birth has been included in the birth certificate since May 1, 2023. Entries from the register of births are handed over to the Stuttgart City Archive after 110 years, entries from the register of marriages and civil partnerships after 80 years and entries from the register of deaths after 30 years. If you would like to inspect these records, please contact the Stuttgart City Archive (opens in a new tab) directly.
In addition, the registrars in Department F will work with you to remove you from the church (opens in a new tab). You can make an appointment (opens in a new tab) here. Please note that declarations of withdrawal from the church are only possible with an appointment.
If your child was born abroad and you would like to have its birth certified in Germany, you can also contact Department F if you live in the city center of Stuttgarturkundenstandesamt.stuttgartde. If you live in a suburb, please contact the local district registry office. The same applies to subsequent certifications for marriages that took place abroad. If you currently live abroad, please contact the registry office in whose jurisdiction your last place of residence in Germany was.
Department F processes all name declarations (opens in a new tab) in connection with marriages as well as declarations of assimilation (opens in a new tab) for names acquired under foreign law that are now governed by German law. If you would like to make a name declaration or adjustment in this regard, please make an appointment at urkundenstandesamt.stuttgartde
