In the historic Zehntscheuer, the local history museum tells the story of the Stuttgart districts of Plieningen and Birkach. The museum stages six characteristic rooms: in the "fields" and in the "barn" it is all about agriculture - the Filderkraut shaped Plieningen and made it famous.
The historic Schad cap-making workshop is at the center of the "Workshop", which describes the often hard working life in the villages. Plieningen was known for its many "taverns" and here in the museum you can meet students from Hohenheim as well as traditional clubs.
You can take a seat in the "Town Hall" and browse through documents, for example on the history of the incorporation. The "Kitchen" displays a variety of historical kitchen utensils and presents forgotten recipes.
The growth of the city districts in the 20th century can be seen through a window of the "vertical village" of Asemwald, which dominates Stuttgart's city skyline with its three characteristic high-rise buildings.
