The Stuttgart Music School is the state capital's music education institution for children, young people and adults. Its main location is at TREFFPUNKT Rotebühlplatz in the city center. The music school provides information about the many district music schools on its website.

Its history can be traced back to 1857.

The school is a member of the Association of German Music Schools and is state-approved in accordance with § 4 of the Youth Education Act. It offers comprehensive, continuous music education for children from the age of two right through to adulthood with early music education for the youngest children, special lessons for all instruments, singing and ensemble playing for the older pupils.

Around 150 teachers teach around 4,500 pupils in various subjects and age groups at the Stuttgart music school.

The educational program includes 30 instrumental subjects with individual and group lessons, 36 ensemble subjects, three university preparation courses and two music theater groups. In addition to instrumental lessons, the program also includes playing and singing in orchestras, choirs, rock and jazz bands, chamber music ensembles and the development of music theater pieces as well as music theory and composition.
