Surveys

The Statistical Office is the central office for surveys at the City of Stuttgart. In various surveys, the living conditions and views of citizens are collected and scientifically analyzed. The results form the basis for decisions in the city council and administration.

The Statistical Office has been conducting the Stuttgart Citizens' Survey every two years since 1995. Regular quality analyses of Stuttgart's all-day elementary school and housing market surveys are also carried out. There are also numerous other surveys, such as interview-based surveys on election day, expert surveys, recurring opinion polls for the European Union's Urban Audit and various evaluations of projects and measures.

The Statistical Office provides neutral, objective and scientifically independent data on regional living conditions and their possible development. These figures provide the basis for fact-based decisions for local self-government and planning sovereignty in accordance with Article 28 of the Basic Law. The results are accessible to citizens via  databases and publications of the Statistical Office.

Citizen survey Stuttgart

The Statistical Office has been carrying out the citizen surveys every two years since 1995, from April to June. Stuttgart residents are selected at random from the residents' register, must be 18 years old (2023: 16 years old) and have their main residence in Stuttgart. The randomly selected residents are asked to take part in the voluntary citizens' survey.

Quality analyses of all-day elementary school

The quality analysis is a central instrument for the continuous, data-based further development of all-day elementary school in Stuttgart. It is used to identify strengths and areas for improvement and to derive targeted measures to improve quality. For this purpose, standardized procedures and defined quality characteristics are used, which are continuously updated.

Housing market survey

Every two years, the housing market survey analyzes the housing and living situation of Stuttgart households. The aim of the housing market survey is to obtain sound knowledge about the amenities and modernization status of buildings and apartments. In addition, data is collected on ownership structure, rents and tenancies.
