The Mercedes-Benz Museum, which opened in 2006, is one of the most visited museums in Stuttgart. It presents 160 vehicles and a total of more than 1,500 exhibits on the exhibition floor. An elevator transports visitors to the top of nine levels - and back to the year 1886, where one of the highlights can be marveled at directly: the Benz Patent Motor Car Number 1, the first automobile with an internal combustion engine built by Carl Benz.
Two tours lead in wide curves through the extensive collection. The first tour tells the history of the brand in seven "myth rooms". The second tour organizes the wealth of vehicles in five "collection rooms".
The museum's most unusual exhibits include the legendary "Silver Arrows," Pope John Paul II's "Papamobile," and the cars of Emperors Wilhelm II and Hirohito.
