Health is an important prerequisite for the well-being of every individual and the quality of life of society as a whole. Lack of exercise, obesity, the aging of society, and stress in the living and working environment are now the greatest risk factors for impairing one’s own health.
Against this background, the state of Baden-Württemberg has suggested that a municipal health conference be set up in each of the rural and urban districts. At meetings of the Municipal Health Conference, issues of health promotion and prevention are discussed. Based on health reporting, expert knowledge and the opinions of those affected, questions on local health issues are developed.
Municipal health conference in Stuttgart
Stuttgart also has a Municipal Health Conference, which is overseen by the Health Department. The goals are:
- Awareness of the need for health promotion and prevention is to be created and specifically deepened.
- With increasing life expectancy, it should be possible to increase the number of complaint-free years through health-promoting measures (compression of sick leave at the end of life).
- Creation of equal health opportunities and participation for all residents in Stuttgart, regardless of age, gender, mother tongue, nationality and migration background, income, education level, disability or other socio-demographic variables.
- Promoting health, not just focusing on preventing disease (salutogenetic approach).
Main focus
Health Reporting
Health planning and health promotion priorities and measures should be based on sound data wherever possible. To this end, health reporting regularly collects and analyzes population and health data.
Health reporting is the task of the Public Health Service (ÖGDG). It describes the health situation and care of the population in the region and identifies urgent needs for action.
Health reporting provides a database for regional health and social policy. This database can serve as a basis for medical care planning or for health promotion and prevention, which is also carried out by the public health service.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Strategic Health Promotion - Planning and Reporting.
