Commuter - past the traffic jam by bike
Cyclists are not only faster than cars over shorter distances of up to around ten kilometers, they also arrive more relaxed, work with greater concentration and are less likely to fall ill. Many companies therefore promote cycling for their employees as part of company mobility management (BMM ).
Cycle route network
To get from A to B quickly by bike, Stuttgart has a main cycle route network (opens in a new tab) that is primarily geared towards everyday and commuter traffic. On a main cycle route, cyclists are guided through the city on cycle lanes, cycle streets, 30 km/h zones and the like. You can recognize a main cycle route by the uniform signage. The network of main cycle routes in Stuttgart is to be gradually expanded.
The cycling recommendations (opens in a new tab) are also marked on the digital city map. These serve as a guide for cyclists to find a relaxed route through the city by bike.
Repair columns
If you have a small puncture along the way, you can quickly get your bike back on the road at the repair stations. The tire is quickly pumped up again and the cycling fun can continue.

Bike service stations
Do you want to get your bike back in shape or don't have time to repair it yourself? Then you can go to one of four bicycle service stations (opens in a new tab) in Stuttgart. The offer ranges from secure parking spaces and repairs to bike rental. You will find the stations at the S-Bahn stations in Bad Cannstatt, Feuerbach, Möhringen and Vaihingen.

Cycle route planner
The bike route planner (opens in a new tab) is a joint project of the city of Stuttgart and the VVS. Depending on your mood, you can choose whether the route should be sporty, fast or particularly beautiful. Stopovers or a combination with public transport are also possible. In the bike route planner, you can also find inspiration for various themed routes in the region, such as the 80-kilometer RadelThon or the 57-kilometer FilderRadRunde. The routes can be entered into the navigation device as a GPS track. In addition, the application is available as an app (opens in a new tab) for iPhone and Android.
Digital city map for cyclists
Sightseeing by bike? Cycle around the edge of the city? Or plan a family tour along the Neckar? The cycle map will help you, it is integrated into the digital city map (opens in a new tab). Under "Traffic and mobility", for example, special routes such as main cycle paths or themed cycle tours can be displayed. The map also shows further information about cycling: bike rental stations, bicycle parking spaces and bicycle parking garages.

RegioRadStuttgart - Tours
If you want to rediscover Stuttgart and the region by bike, you will find a wide range of tours including maps from RegioRadStuttgart at Stuttgart Marketing (opens in a new tab). The cycle tours start and end at a train station and are particularly suitable for use with the RegioRad bikes and RegioPedelecs from the RegioRadStuttgart public rental system.

Anyone planning further cycle tours beyond the edge of the basin will find a good overview of interesting routes at Stuttgart Marketing (opens in a new tab). The tours are graded according to different levels of difficulty or themes, so that there is a suitable tour for everyone.
Bicycle transport on public transport
Don't feel like cycling the entire route? No problem, you can also take your bike with you on the Regiobahn and the Stadtbahn - except during rush hour. Apart from rush hour, taking your bike on public transport is free of charge.
One exception is the rack railroad (Zacke), which runs between Marienplatz and Degerloch. Bikes and cargo bikes can be transported all day long in its front carriages, but only uphill.
Cycling in Stuttgart
Cheer on the pros at the road cycling championships or get on the pedals yourself at the Brezel Race - there are many things for cycling enthusiasts to discover in Stuttgart.
- Radel-Thon: A very special cycle route is the Radel-Thon, which runs for 83 kilometers around the Stuttgart basin. - Downhill trail: 120 meters difference in altitude, more than 27 obstacles over a length of one kilometer - the Woodpecker Trail (opens in a new tab) is the downhill trail in Stuttgart. The descent begins below Albplatz in Degerloch and ends at Karl-Kloß-Straße in Stuttgart-Heslach. And if you prefer to ride down instead of up, you can take the "Zacke" from Marienplatz back up to the edge of the basin.
- Pumptracks: Children today often learn to ride a bike safely at a very early age thanks to balance bikes. The pump tracks in the Stuttgart city area (opens in a new tab) offer great opportunities to have even more fun on a balance bike. At the same time, the kids train their riding technique while riding on the tracks. There are eight pump tracks in Stuttgart.

On the way on the FilderRadRunde
The 57 km long tour leads through varied valleys and on high ridges, past meadow orchards and fields and takes you to numerous highlights of the municipalities of the Filder working group, of which the state capital is also a member.
Parking and parking
If you want to park your bike safely in Stuttgart, you will find several options - from the classic bike rack to the collective garage to the bike box.
Bicycle garages
Under the Paulinenbrücke in Tübinger Straße, 40 covered and secured spaces for bicycles are available in a bicycle garage. Eight more bicycle garages have been installed around the main train station at Arnulf-Klett-Platz/corner of Lautenschlager Straße and in Mittlerer Schlossgarten. A total of 160 parking spaces are available there. The spaces can be booked online via the "Bike and Park" (opens in a new tab) portal. The spaces are rented out by the day, week, month or year. In the bike garages, the bikes are parked and connected on two levels in so-called double-deck parkers.
Bicycle hanger
There are over 10,000 bicycle racks in Stuttgart. They can be found at almost all public transport stops, in front of public facilities and in squares. Some of the parking spaces are covered. You can get an overview in the city map. (opens in a new tab)
Bike boxes
Commuters can park their bikes in a bike box at the main station and the Schwabstraße stop. Like in a mini garage, the bikes are safe from thieves and protected from wind and weather. The bicycle boxes can be rented for around 50 euros a year from the civil engineering office. The waiting time for a space is currently one to two years.
Service Stations
At the train stations in Möhringen, Vaihingen, Bad Cannstatt and Feuerbach, the staff at the bicycle service stations offer their services. Bicycles can be parked here safely and under cover. During parking hours Monday to Friday from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m., you can also have your bike cleaned and serviced. The bike service stations (opens in a new tab) also offer rental bikes. Donated and refurbished bikes can be rented for three to five euros per day.
