Notifiable diseases are infectious diseases that must be reported to the public health department by physicians and laboratories for prevention and control in humans according to sections 6 to 9 of the Infection Protection Act (IfSG):
- Botulism
- Cholera
- diphtheria
- human spongiform encephalopathy (= Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, BSE)
- acute viral hepatitis
- enteropathic hemolytic uremic syndrome (EHEC)
- virus-induced hemorrhagic fever
- measles
- whooping cough
- meningococcal meningitis or meningococcal sepsis
- Anthrax
- Poliomyelitis
- Plague
- Rabies
- typhoid or paratyphoid fever
- Epidemics (at least 2 cases) of gastroenteritis or microbial food poisoning
- Injury or contact with animal suspected of being rabid
- Epidemic due to unknown pathogen, if serious danger to general public
- tuberculosis patients refusing treatment
- Increased incidence of nosocomial infections (not named)
- Coronavirus disease-2019 (COVID-19)
