The tasks of the public health department are complex. The aim is to prevent the spread of communicable diseases. Infection control, environmental health protection and hygiene are becoming increasingly important here. The public health department also endeavors to prevent chronic, lifestyle-related and therefore avoidable diseases by means of situational and behavioral prevention and to accompany demographic change with targeted health promotion. One of the most important challenges is the improvement of equal health opportunities. The social services, prevention consultation hours, family pediatric nurses, the early intervention center, dental health and the public health department’s medical service are all dedicated to this. The office consists of five departments:
- Central Service, Basic Matters (Administration)
- Health protection, official medical reports
- Child, youth and dental health, social services
- Infection protection and environmental hygiene
- Health promotion and health planning
In the following annual reports of the public health department, the extensive areas of responsibility are presented and the developments in the individual areas in the reporting years are shown.
