Who can apply for a postal vote in Stuttgart?
Eligible voters who are entered in the Stuttgart electoral roll can exercise their right to vote by postal vote without any special reason. This is also possible if they are temporarily abroad. To do so, they must apply for a so-called polling card from the Stuttgart Statistical Office in good time.
From when can one apply for absentee voting?
Voting notifications are sent out around five weeks before an election.
You can use the information on the election notification to apply for a postal vote online or by post. Without the data on the polling card, it is possible to submit an application by email to poststelle.briefwahlstuttgartde. In this case, you must also provide your date of birth in addition to your surname, first name and address in Stuttgart.
Once the ballot papers have been delivered, the postal voting documents will be sent out.
How and where do I apply for postal voting documents?
If you would like to vote by postal ballot, you will need a polling card. You can obtain this in different ways:
- via an online form,
- request it in writing by post, fax or e-mail,
- collect it in person from a polling station and then vote directly on site.
Applications by telephone are not possible.
Anyone wishing to apply for or collect postal voting documents on behalf of another person requires a written power of attorney.
You will find further information here about three months before the next election.
Can I also vote by absentee ballot from abroad?
In principle, it is also possible to vote by postal ballot from abroad.
