Absentee ballot

Persons entitled to vote who are entered in the Stuttgart electoral roll can exercise their right to vote by postal vote without there being a special reason. This is also possible if they are temporarily abroad. To do this, they must apply to the Stuttgart Statistical Office in good time for a so-called election certificate.

Currently, no election date is known. Election notifications are sent out approximately five weeks before an election. You can apply using the information on the notification.

If you want to vote by absentee ballot, you need a ballot paper. You can apply for this in different ways. You have the option of applying for your documents via a separate online form, requesting them in writing by mail, fax or e-mail, or you can also pick up your absentee ballot documents in person at a polling station and then also vote directly on site if you wish. Requests over the phone are not possible.

If you wish to apply for or collect absentee ballots on behalf of another person, you will need a written power of attorney.

Participation in an election by absentee ballot is in principle also possible from abroad. Depending on the election, there are different requirements, which are announced in good time before an election.
