State capital Stuttgart

People with disabilities

Barrier-free Stuttgart

It is a declared goal of the city council to promote accessibility in the urban area. In the end, this benefits not only people with disabilities, but all citizens of Stuttgart.

Guidance systems for the blind, wheelchair ramps and other measures enable people with disabilities to get around better and enjoy greater mobility and participation in public life.

Here you can find the  online city guide (opens in a new tab) of the city of Stuttgart. It provides information about the accessibility of facilities such as offices and authorities, but also stores and other buildings such as restaurants or medical practices. The online city guide provides detailed info on guidance systems, step heights, elevators, toilets and more.

Under mobility services, you’ll find city services for people with disabilities, as well as information and services from third-party providers. These include, for example, public transport or Messe Stuttgart.

A pedestrian-friendly and barrier-free city for all

Accessibility is a “must have” for many people in order to be mobile in their everyday lives. For the German Pedestrian Congress 2020, Simone Fischer shows which concerns need to be taken into account so that we can use our city in the best possible way and, above all, on foot. This is how we can get along well and ensure better, inclusive living conditions.

The film shows the hurdles faced by mobility-impaired, blind or visually impaired people, as well as parents with strollers or the elderly.
