Online appointment for emergencies
Has your residence permit, visa or fictitious certificate already expired or will it expire in the next seven days? Then you can apply online for an emergency appointment. Please read the following points carefully before registering:
- Registration must be done individually for each person. For example, you cannot register your spouse or your family with one entry.
- Please only register once. Duplicate registrations increase the processing time at the Foreigners’ Registration Office considerably and lead to delays.
- Upload your documents in *jpg format: You can photograph or scan your residence permit or fiction certificate and then upload it.
- Please enter your personal details correctly and truthfully. Please make sure you enter your e-mail address correctly. Please understand that we cannot process incorrect registrations - nor can we provide any information on the status of your registration.
- You will receive a confirmation e-mail with your registration and another e-mail with your appointment confirmation at a later date. Emergency appointments will be allocated by e-mail in chronological order based on the expiration date of your residence permit, earliest expiration date first.
- Please check your e-mail inbox on weekdays. As soon as you receive your appointment, please come to the Foreigners’ Registration Office as soon as possible on that day. Your request will be processed directly on that day. You must show the e-mail at the entrance to the Foreigners’ Registration Office.

Frequently asked questions
Since October 2023, appointments for emergencies in immigration law have only been made online. This procedure replaces the issuing of waiting cards for emergencies at the Foreigners’ Registration Office. If you are not an emergency case, you are welcome to make a regular appointment.
