Coronavirus

Sars-CoV-2 coronavirus was first detected in China in December 2019. The pathogen causes Covid-19 lung disease and has spread worldwide. As of May 2023, the Corona pandemic is no longer an international health emergency. This was decided by the World Health Organization (WHO).

The coronavirus is constantly mutating. This results in new main variants with sub-variants.

The protective measures have also expired in Germany. The state government of Baden-Württemberg lifted all coronavirus regulations on March 1, 2023. However, prudent behavior is still advisable.

The lifting of the coronavirus regulations is linked to the following recommendations:

  • Infection : If you are ill, stay at home.
  • Vaccination check:  Vaccination protection must always be kept up to date.
  • Risk groups: Elderly or chronically ill people should protect themselves according to the AHA+L rules.
  • Consideration : Anyone who comes into contact with vulnerable groups should be particularly considerate. This applies in particular during the cold season.

Immunity after infection and vaccination

For three years - from 2020 to 2023 - the Corona pandemic determined the everyday life of people worldwide. According to experts, the number of infections and mortality decreased because immunity increased after vaccination and infection.

Despite the lifting of all protective measures, the coronavirus has not been defeated and continues to circulate worldwide. What's more, the World Health Organization (WHO) estimated in June 2023 that about 36 million people in Europe alone are currently suffering from the  long-term effects of coronavirus infection.
