Activity as a childminder

This is how it works:

1. Participation in an information event at Caritasverband e. V.
2. Initial assessment of suitability in the form of a preliminary interview and home visit
3. Participation in the qualification course (160 teaching units) and accompanying internship
4. Suitability assessment and verification for working as a childminder and granting of the care license by employees of the youth welfare office
5. Opening of your own daycare center
6. Participation in the qualification course accompanying the activity (140 teaching units)
7. Completion of the qualification

The qualification lasts a total of around 12 to 18 months. Prospective childminders can continue to work during the qualification, as the courses also take place in the evenings or at weekends.

As a rule, childminders are self-employed. This requires independent planning, particularly with regard to upcoming investments, taxes and bookkeeping. Health and pension insurance must also be taken out, and additional cover in the event of illness or unemployment should also be considered.

With training and advice from the Caritas Association for Stuttgart e. V., they receive comprehensive guidance and support right from the start.

They can receive public funding from the youth welfare office, which makes their income calculable - it is calculated per child and per hour. The public funding also includes a pro rata reimbursement of social insurance.
