Child-friendly Stuttgart

Children's Office and Children's Representative

Networking, coordinating and launching new child-friendly projects - these are the core tasks of the Children's Office and the Children's Commissioner of the City of Stuttgart.

Children's office and full-time children's representative

The  Children's Office , headed by  Maria Haller-Kindler, is the point of contact for the concerns of children and families in Stuttgart.

As a full-time children's representative, Maria Haller-Kindler represents the concerns of Stuttgart's children and families in the city administration and forwards inquiries and complaints to the relevant departments. If necessary, she coordinates and networks different players and interests and supports the participation of children and young people in topics and projects that affect them.

The Children's Office supports the children's representatives of the departments, municipal enterprises and city districts and initiates campaigns, events and projects. In cooperation with partners from urban society, various offers and measures are developed and implemented for a  child-friendly Stuttgart. In 2020, Stuttgart was awarded the " Child-friendly municipality" seal for this.

The central measures can be viewed here:

Child-friendly municipality action plan: Implementation of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child.

Child-friendly Stuttgart concept: Measures from child participation and specialist expertise.

Overall concept of child participation: Children actively help shape their city.

Children's representatives of the departments, municipal enterprises and city districts

The children's commissioners of the state capital are represented in the offices, municipal enterprises and city districts. Topics covered by the children's representatives include the education of children and young people, housing for families with children, play areas and playgrounds, safety, health and mobility as well as work-life balance.

The children's representatives of the offices, staff departments and municipal enterprises pool information, projects and activities relating to child-friendliness within their area of responsibility. They are happy to receive your suggestions and proposals for a child-friendly Stuttgart. You are also in the right place if you have any problems.

The children's representatives in the city districts bundle projects and activities on the subject of child-friendliness locally. If you have any suggestions on how your area could be made even more child-friendly, you can get in touch with the contact person in your district. The children's representatives are also open to criticism.
