Counseling and help for children and adolescents

Growing up is a challenge that parents cannot always support. Children and young people who do not have a contact person can get help from the various counseling centers in Stuttgart. Assistance is also available in emergencies, during criminal proceedings or during victim-offender mediation.

Help in emergencies, crises and conflicts

Problems are as individual as the people they affect. But one thing is clear: everyone has them. And in many cases, the solution is not far away. Sometimes, however, special or quick help is needed. And this is not always to be found in the immediate vicinity. The municipal contact points and a selection of Stuttgart institutions that are particularly concerned about the needs of children and young people are listed below.

Support for young people who have committed a crime

The reasons why young people commit crimes are as varied as their causes. First of all, it is important to overcome the acute situation and deal with the legal consequences. However, long-term support is also important. The state capital supports juveniles and young people who have committed crimes with measures and services within the framework of youth welfare in criminal proceedings (anti-violence training, supervision instruction, social training course, victim-offender mediation, instruction advice).

For its mediation work in victim-offender mediation, the Stuttgart Youth Welfare Office's Victim-Offender Mediation Unit was awarded the  seal of approval by the Federal Working Group for Victim-Offender Mediation.

Prevention: Strengthen, Educate, Prevent

Recognizing one's own strengths, standing up for oneself and others, resolving conflicts instead of meeting them with aggression - not every child and not every young person has learned this. Often, parents and guardians are also helpless and at a loss when it comes to the challenges in a modern society. The Stuttgart Youth Welfare Office provides advice and support for all concerns. Other areas of the city administration are also dedicated to the topics of conflict management and violence prevention.
