If you are registered with your main residence in a resident parking area, do not have your own or rented parking space (parking space, garage) and have your own vehicle or one that you can prove you use permanently, you can apply for a resident parking permit. The parking permit entitles you to free parking in the designated area. You can apply for the parking permit conveniently online.

Special notes:
Each person receives only one parking permit. If you own several vehicles, up to three vehicles can be registered together on one parking permit.
In justified exceptional cases, the entry "changing license plates" may be made or the registered secondary residence may be sufficient. Please contact us by email at anparkraummanagement@stuttgart.de.
Since 01.01.2023, users of car sharing companies no longer require a resident parking permit because they can park free of charge in the resident parking areas and at all parking ticket machines in Stuttgart. This regulation is initially valid until 31.12.2026. The regulations on stopping and parking bans remain unaffected. The instructions on parking ticket machines, such as a maximum parking time, must also continue to be observed. If you live in the Stuttgart-City charging zone, special regulations apply. To be able to park there, you must apply for a special permit: www.stuttgart.de/parkenincity.
Foreign license plates must be registered in person at one of the citizens' offices in Mitte, Nord, Ost, Süd, West, Bad Cannstatt, Degerloch, Untertürkheim, Vaihingen or Zuffenhausen.
Tip: Enter your e-mail address when applying. You will then receive a reminder email with a direct link to the online application six weeks before your resident parking permit expires.

Once your application data has been checked and approved, the parking permit will be sent to you by post. If you have any queries, we will contact you using the contact details you have provided. Fees are charged online by direct debit or credit card.
Prerequisites
- You are registered with your main residence in a resident parking area in Stuttgart.
- You have one or more motor vehicles which are registered to you as the owner or which you can prove are permanently used by you.
- You do not have your own or rented private parking space (parking space, garage) for any of the vehicles.
Procedure
You can apply online for a resident parking permit for three, six, twelve or 24 months (only for permits with a license plate number). In the event of changes, the new resident parking permit will be issued for the remaining term. Replacement permits are only issued for resident parking permits with a license plate number.

Deadlines
Follow-up applications may be submitted six weeks prior to the expiration of the previous resident parking permit.
Processing time
- The online application is usually processed within three working days at the latest. However, there may be waiting times of up to two weeks due to postal delivery. As soon as you have received confirmation that your resident parking permit has been sent to you by e-mail, you can print it out and place it behind the windshield of your vehicle to avoid parking tickets.
- If you still have a valid resident parking permit, the dispatch of the follow-up permit may be delayed. However, the follow-up permit will be sent out in good time, if possible at least 2 weeks before the previous one expires.
- If the application is made in person at the Citizens' Office, the resident parking permit will be issued immediately.
