The Ditzingen group sewage treatment plant is a sewage treatment plant in a group association. This consists of the state capital Stuttgart with a 60% share and the town of Ditzingen with a 40% share. With a capacity of 101,000 population equivalents, the Ditzingen group sewage treatment plant treats wastewater from the Stuttgart districts of Weilimdorf and Giebel as well as the towns of Ditzingen, Gerlingen and Korntal-Münchingen. Up to 14,000 cubic meters of wastewater are treated at the Ditzingen group sewage treatment plant every day.

With the help of two CHP modules, the digester gas produced is converted into electrical energy and heat and is used to supply the sewage treatment plant itself. This means that an overall level of electrical self-sufficiency of around 30 % can be achieved.
