Cinema very close - Stuttgart Film Festival of the Generations

"Cinema up close" - that's the promise of the second Stuttgart Film Festival of Generations: From September 27 to November 30, current feature and documentary films will be shown in the district and family centers. Around 70 free events will bring cinema to your immediate neighborhood.

After 2023, the successful Stuttgart Film Festival will take place for the second year in a row.

The program includes current German and international film productions that primarily deal with topics and future issues such as migration, inclusion, social cohesion and climate change; issues that are important for all age groups.

In subsequent audience discussions or a corresponding supporting program with selected experts from senior citizen work, age research, healthcare and youth welfare, the respective film topic is addressed and an exchange between the generations is facilitated. The aim of the film festival is to strengthen social cohesion and promote encounters and dialog between citizens, generations and cultures.

The individual events in the city districts and a PDF document for download can be found below.

About the film festival "Kino ganz nah"

Closely integrated into the Municipal Health Conference, the health department has been participating in the European Film Festival of Generations in Stuttgart since 2017 as part of the health promotion project "TrotzAlter: unabhängig, mittendrin". This series of events had become a permanent fixture in Stuttgart and enjoyed steadily increasing visitor numbers. The idea of an independent Stuttgart film festival focusing on social cohesion and socio-cultural issues was born. After 2023, the public health department, in cooperation with the Haus für Film und Medien Stuttgart e.V. (HFM) association, will present the annual series of events, bringing "cinema" directly to Stuttgart's neighborhoods.
