Forest Education

Stuttgart’s nature as an extracurricular place of learning: Forest education enables children and young people to experience the forest playfully with all their senses. The Garden, Cemetery and Forestry Office offers an extensive and free range of activities with foresters and forest educators for grades 1 to 13.

Whether math, German, art, sports or biology: every school subject can take place in the forest. It offers children and young people a mix of tension and relaxation, all the senses are served and the horizon for everyday challenges is broadened.

It can be played in the green, free from standardized gyms. The forest is inclusive and promotes social skills for all participants. Practical activities such as caring for the next generation of forest can be implemented together outside in nature.

Free offer with foresters and forest educators

As an extracurricular place of learning, the forest is an ideal space that makes learning tangible. During a visit to the forest, children and young people discover the importance of the forest for the climate, work with wood as a natural material or get to know nature as a place of recreation.

The state capital Stuttgart offers an extensive and free range of activities with foresters and forest educators for grades 1 to 13. For many daycare centers, the forest is already an integral part of the weekly schedule. The Garden, Cemetery and Forestry Office also offers free training and advice on the topic for professionals at Stuttgart daycare centers, schools and all-day providers.

Training of teachers and educators

The Stuttgart team of forest educators is happy to come by and train teachers, educators on what is important during a visit to the forest. Of course, these training sessions can also be held in the forest. Regionally networked and in close cooperation with the House of the Forest, innovative projects, such as the “Learning Forest” project, are also implemented in the forest time and again.
