Former city councilor Werner Neuffer died

Former SPD city councilor Werner Neuffer died on Saturday, August 2, at the age of 69. He was a member of the Stuttgart City Council from 1980 to 1999 and represented his parliamentary group in the Environment and Technology Committee and the Sports Committee, among others.

His special interests were urban planning, environmental policy and employee issues. For example, he worked to improve housing conditions and the residential environment, to expand public transportation, and to protect local recreation areas.

Convinced trade unionist and works council

Werner Neuffer was born in Stuttgart in 1945. At the beginning of the 1960s, he completed an apprenticeship at Bosch as a mechanic in special machine construction. In 1972, he was elected to the Works Council of the Bosch plant in Feuerbach and was released from his duties in this function, from 1984 as Chairman of the Works Council in the Industrial Equipment Division, and later also as Deputy Chairman of the Group Works Council.

Committed to Zuffenhausen swimming pool

The trade unionist, who has been a member of the SPD since 1969, was also chairman of the Zuffenhausen local association for many years and a member of the Stuttgart district executive. Neuffer was also involved with other volunteers on the “Bädles” board of the Zuffenhausen swimming pool.
