Waste and recyclables bins in Stuttgart-Mitte get transponders

By July 30, AWS Abfallwirtschaft Stuttgart will equip all waste and recyclables containers that have not yet been converted and registered, such as gray, green and brown garbage cans, with an electronic chip known as a transponder.

The waste and recyclables bins in Stuttgart-Mitte will be converted in calendar week 20 from Tuesday, May 17, to Saturday, May 21. In addition, the garbage cans will receive a barcode sticker with information on the garbage can size, the garbage can number and the garbage can location.

Simpler container management, optimized route planning

This means that the bin can be clearly identified and assigned in the future. The chip simplifies bin management, optimizes route planning and improves citizen service, since in the event of queries it can be determined precisely whether and when the bin was emptied.

Hotline and info on the Internet

Important note: All bins must be freely accessible and visible to the installation team. The chips will be attached to the garbage cans regardless of the emptying date. All bins can be used as usual during this time. The company in charge of the equipment has a certificate for its activity, which will be shown upon request.

Questions about chip equipment will be answered Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., by calling the hotline at 216-25700, email AWS-Identsystemstuttgartde. All information and the exact schedule are available online at www.stuttgart.de/aws, keyword identification system.
