SPD city councilor Suse Kletzin turns 60

SPD city councilor Suse Kletzin turns 60 on Saturday, April 28. A native of Franconia, she was first elected to the city council in 2014 and has been a member of the parliamentary group executive committee since 2015. Kletzin is spokeswoman for the Environment and Technology Committee as well as the Advisory Council for Environmental Protection and the Urban Planning Committee.

Her political focus coincides with her professional career: she studied architecture at the TU Berlin. After working in architectural offices in Cologne, Berlin and Stuttgart from 1982 to 1994, the Stuttgart resident by choice became a teacher and head of department at the Steinbeis School, a vocational school for construction technology, media and the environment.

As a city councillor, Suse Kletzin looks after the interests of the people in her residential district of Feuerbach as well as in Stuttgart-Nord and Mühlhausen. Her profession and committee work are motivated by her sense of social justice and equal opportunities.

Kletzin has been involved in various committees of the Baden-Württemberg Chamber of Architects since 1992, including the working group of female architects. Since 2010, she has been a member of the state board as deputy chairwoman of the Stuttgart chamber district. She is also active on the board of the “Friends of the Weißenhofsiedlung”, where she has been chairwoman since 2005. The association runs the Weissenhof Museum in the Le Corbusier House, which is a World Heritage Site. The preservation of the estate on Killesberg, which was built in the 1920s as an architectural experiment, is very close to her heart.

Suse Kletzin’s hobby is sailing, which she enjoys doing with her partner and daughter.
