Third Stuttgart Diversity Congress at City Hall

The Department for Individual Equal Opportunities for Women and Men of the State Capital Stuttgart invites you to the Third Stuttgart Diversity Congress. “Women* and men* in their diversity. Gender is more” is the motto on June 5 and 6 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. in the city hall.

Women’s officers, men’s officers, equal opportunity officers - municipalities occupy different responsibilities in order to adopt a gender-differentiated, comprehensive perspective in shaping their equal opportunity policies. Gender policy has long meant supporting women and men in the diversity of their respective life situations and framework conditions, according to their needs. It is obvious that the respective starting situations of women and men have to be analyzed in detail in order to develop good solutions.

The congress takes up the challenge to take different perspectives in order to compare different municipal working and solution approaches and to learn from each other. It will begin on June 5 with thematic introductory lectures, which will be followed by practical, gender-specific workshops on the topics of “age,” “disability,” “sexual orientation,” “ethnicity” and “living conditions/social background. The focus will be on presentations, dialogues, panel discussions on innovative local policy strategies, tested best practice measures, but also on disruptive factors. The congress will provide an opportunity to connect with experts from across the country, learn about their innovative ways and network.

On June 6, the Department for Individual Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, in cooperation with FemCities, Vienna, will focus on neighboring German-speaking countries such as Austria, Luxembourg and Switzerland. The thematic field “Gender and Poverty” will be discussed from different points of view such as age, migration, social origin and family status, based on country-specific inputs.

The detailed program with registration form for the expert congress is available for download at www.stuttgart.de/diversity. Registration is also possible there. The event is free of charge.
