Corona - Citizens’ telephone gets support from artificial intelligence-based hotline assistant

Since the beginning of the corona pandemic, employees of the state capital Stuttgart have been answering questions about the corona virus on the citizens’ telephone. Now they are getting support from artificial intelligence (AI). This was announced by the city on Tuesday, March 16.

At the end of February, the city government implemented voice control technology at the citizen telephone. This AI-powered hotline assistant provides callers with information and answers to their questions about the coronavirus, regardless of the time or day of the week.

First Mayor Dr. Fabian Mayer said, “I am pleased that we can relieve the colleagues at the citizen telephone by using the voice bot. Many questions from citizens can already be answered with the help of the predefined answers. In addition, we are available around the clock with this technology. So the voice bot is also another building block in our digitization strategy.”

The citizen telephone can be reached at 0711/216-88200, -88688 or -88888. The caller lands directly with the voice bot. Since this can answer a variety of questions, but not all, there is still the possibility to speak personally with employees of the city administration during service hours. Service hours are Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Friday from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
