Have you lost your passport? Then you are obliged to inform the Citizens' Office as soon as possible.
The Citizens' Registration Office must also be informed if you find the document you thought you had lost.
Due to the lack of an online function, there is no blocking, as is the case with ID cards.
Prerequisites
- German within the meaning of Art. 116 (1) of the Basic Law (GG)
- registered with main residence in Stuttgart
For persons who only have a secondary residence or are not registered in Stuttgart, the Citizen office Mitte will decide, after consultation, whether you can apply for a passport here.
Procedure
The loss or theft must be reported in person to the Citizens' Office as soon as it is noticed.
You can fulfill your identification obligation by having a valid identity card. If you do not have a valid identity card, you must apply for a new identity document in person at the Citizens' Office.
Please note:
In urgent cases, you can apply for a passport - express (processing time maximum five working days). If it is unlikely that a passport can be completed by the express procedure by the time of travel, a passport application - provisional can be is passport - express (processing time maximum five working days). If it is unlikely that a passport can be completed by the express procedure by the time of travel, a passport application - provisional can be issued in particularly urgent cases. A temporary passport is valid for a maximum of one year and must be returned and validated when the regular passport is issued.

Note: The personal appearance of a legal guardian and the personal appearance of the child is required.

- in the case of only one custodial parent, also proof of custody
- in the case of guardianship or guardianships that include the right to determine residence with reservation of consent, the appointment of a guardian or the court order. The guardian should also be present.
