Johannes Reuchlin was a licentiate of Roman law, advisor to Count Eberhard im Bart and member of the Württemberg court. Along with Erasmus of Rotterdam, he is considered the most important humanist in the debate with the scholastic worldview and wrote important linguistic and Greek works. He also founded ancient Hebrew studies and the Neo-Latin school drama in Germany. His tale “Henno” was translated into German by Hans Sachs as a carnival play.

Johannes Reuchlin was born on February 22, 1455 in Pforzheim and died on June 30, 1522 in Stuttgart.
