The Kunstgebäude is the domicile of the Württembergischer Kunstverein. In addition, the state of Baden-Württemberg regularly holds state exhibitions in the rooms of the Kunstgebäude. Also housed in the building is the Café Künstlerbund. The Kunstgebäude was built in 1912-13 by the architect Theodor Fischer. It stands on the site of the Court Theater, which burned down in 1902, the core of which in turn dates back to the Neue Lusthaus, built in 1593. After the destruction of the war, the Art Building was rebuilt in a simplified way by Paul Bonatz and Günter Wilhelm from 1965 to 1961. The golden stag on the cupola roof was created by bidlhauer Ludwig Habich.
