For the wall niche of the corner building at Brennerstraße 29 on Stuttgart’s Weberplätzle, Renate Hoffleit designed a chair made of translucent marble that sits enthroned on a small platform high above the heads of passers-by. The chair seat and backrest begin to glow in the sunlight. Associations can be awakened with the enthroned Madonna with the baby Jesus, the bringer of light, on her lap. But here the “throne” remains empty - only the light takes its place on it.
