If you are in possession of a settlement permit and wish to stay abroad for longer than six months at a time, the immigration authority can check whether a so-called non-expiry certificate (colloquially: “pensioner certificate”) can be issued in your case. This certificate confirms that your settlement permit does not expire and may be required for presentation to authorities and border protection agencies.
