What is green waste?
Green waste includes:
- Tree and hedge cuttings
- Shrubbery cuttings
- leaves, grass cuttings, weeds
- Cut flowers
- Tree wood (no longer than 1.50 meters and no larger than 10 centimeters in diameter)
Where can you dispose of green waste?
You can dispose of small quantities of green waste up to a maximum of 2 m³ per day free of charge at the following collection points:
You can purchase compost at the shredding site and the composting site. Information on quality, quantities and costs can be obtained from the garden, cemetery and forestry office.

Green waste collection on order
If you would like us to collect green waste from your home, you can simply order collection online (opens in a new tab) up to twice a year. You can place orders from February 15 to May 15 and from August 15 to November 15. The green waste will then be collected from you within three to four weeks. We will send you the exact collection date by e-mail. Alternatively, you can contact our customer service by e-mail or telephone.
Please note the following to ensure that everything goes smoothly during collection:
- When registering, state the correct collection address and the approximate quantity of green waste you would like us to collect.
- Only place the green waste in the public area on the collection date.
- The green waste must be ready by 6:45 a.m. on the collection day, in some cases by 5:45 a.m. during the summer months.
- Branches and trunks may be a maximum of 1.5 meters long and no thicker than 10 centimeters.
- The green waste must be bundled with rot-proof cotton or hemp twine or placed in municipal paper green waste bags.
- We can take a maximum of 20 bags and 20 bundles per order.
Green waste bags are available from August to May in all district town halls and in various retail outlets.
We cannot take organic waste packed in green waste bags with the green waste collection! We take green waste online (opens in a new tab) up to twice a year. We cannot take organic waste packed in green waste bags with the green waste collection! We take green waste to the shredding site. Organic waste is recycled differently and belongs in the brown organic waste garbage can.
