We differentiate between social benefits and voluntary benefits. While the former are prescribed by law, voluntary benefits are additional support from the city of Stuttgart.
Statutory social assistance covers the running costs for food, clothing, accommodation, energy and the most important needs of daily life. In certain cases, additional needs may also be covered, for example for single parents. One-off benefits such as initial household equipment, pregnancy and childbirth can also be granted.
The most important statutory social benefits include social assistance, basic security in old age and in the event of reduced earning capacity, assistance in special circumstances and basic security for jobseekers. The most important voluntary benefits provided by the City of Stuttgart are the Bonuscard, Family Card, travel vouchers for the severely disabled, foundation donations and regulatory assistance and the Family Pass.

Voluntary social benefits
FamilyCard
With the FamilienCard, the city of Stuttgart ensures that children and young people whose parents are in a poor financial position can participate in the wide range of leisure and educational opportunities in Stuttgart.
As a voluntary social benefit, the FamilienCard supplements the city's portfolio of services. All children and young people whose parents receive benefits such as basic income support or housing allowance can benefit from this so-called participation benefit.
You can find out how to apply for the FamilienCard and who to contact on the FamilyCard application page.
Bonus card + culture
The Bonuscard + Culture is a voluntary social benefit provided by the state capital Stuttgart. With numerous discounts and subsidies for a wide range of offers, residents should be able to participate in cultural, sporting and social life even with financial restrictions.
Going to the theater, joining a sports club - what many people take for granted can be a hurdle for residents with financial restrictions. Yet cultural activities and club life are an important part of social life. To ensure that people who cannot afford some activities out of their own pocket are not socially excluded, the city of Stuttgart promotes participation with the Bonuscard + Culture.
Are you eligible? How do you apply for the Bonuscard + Culture? And what discounts does it entitle you to? You can find out all this on the Apply for Bonuscard + Culture page.
You can find more information on the cultural offerings on the Culture for All website (opens in a new tab).
