You can download your appointments in  iCal format (opens in a new tab), subscribe to them and add them to your personal digital calendar. These appointments are always up to date.
You can also create and print your appointments as a  waste calendar in pdf format (opens in a new tab). The dates are current at the time of printing. You can find out how to do this in the video.

You can display your appointments for a  desired period (opens in a new tab). Of course, you can also print them out.

You can view all current appointments for your address from our free AWS app. If you want, the app will also remind you of appointments. Another service our Stuttgart AWS app has for you: If you want, you can simply be reminded of your personal collection dates. Would you also like to find the locations of the nearest bottle banks or recycling centers? Or view the latest news? And do you want to do this on the go, conveniently on your smartphone?

 Bulky waste (opens in a new tab) is individual household items that are too large for the normal waste containers and for which there are no other disposal routes.

You can request a collection date (opens in a new tab) quickly and easily online. For you, as a Stuttgart citizen, this is already included in the waste fees twice a year.

Bring green waste to one of our collection points or have it collected from your home free of charge up to twice a year. This is possible if you are connected to the regular Stuttgart collection service. You can find out how to do this on our page about  green waste.

Children learn how to deal with recyclables and waste in a fun and natural way. We are happy to support this with our separation picture book and a game. The picture book is available for download. Furniture, toys or appliances are often too good to throw away. It is better to give them away so that they can find a new life and a new home. That's what the  Verschenkmarkt Stuttgart (opens in a new tab) is for. The platform is made available by us free of charge. Anyone who wants to can post their own offers there or search for something suitable.

• When buying something new, it's best to make sure you buy something with a long lifespan that can also be repaired easily.
• Buy products that are low in harmful substances.
• Replace chemicals with mechanical processes whenever possible.
• Mains or solar-powered electrical appliances are environmentally friendly, and rechargeable batteries are a viable alternative to batteries.
• Use a basket or cloth bags when shopping.
• It is best to buy goods without packaging, especially fruits and vegetables.
• Coffee cream or sweets often come in portion packs, which are better avoided: Larger packages are not only more environmentally friendly, but also cheaper.
• Reach for refills and concentrates.
• Choose reusable packaging.
• Give preference to regional products. With longer transportation distances, the environmental impact also increases.
• A snack can replaces aluminum foil and sandwich paper.
• If you have a garden, you can start a compost. This way you can recycle organic waste from your home and garden as humus.

Another task of the AWS that not many people know about: AWS rents out flags, for example for international events. We have about 130 country flags in stock. They are about 1.5 meters by 5 meters.

The AWS team ensures that Stuttgart is clean. They clean roadways, parking lots, city sidewalks, pedestrian zones, squares, underpasses and many other areas.
Our street sweepers clean wherever lanes are not parked. In the area of parked cars, the AWS relies on its self-developed suction boom system.
In pedestrian zones and underpasses, we clean manually or use small sweepers. For underground shopping arcades, there are so-called wet cleaning machines.

In Stuttgart, around 5,000 waste bins are emptied several times a week. Not only conventional waste bins: AWS has also installed many underground waste collection bins that can hold larger quantities of waste underground.

Litter just lying around not only looks unattractive, but is also harmful to the environment and, depending on the type of waste, can also be dangerous. This is why the AWS team removes so-called litter. However, this is expensive. Not only for the AWS, but also for the polluter if they are found. Illegal waste dumping is an administrative offense that can result in heavy fines.

If you see illegally dumped waste, please report it.
If it is large quantities, please contact the local police or the waste disposal authority.

The AWS is the right contact for small quantities of illegally dumped waste in public areas. The same applies to broken glass on Stuttgart's cycle paths.

The reports are usually processed within one or two days

Sidewalks must be safe to walk on in winter. When and how often sidewalks must be cleared when it's icy or snowy depends on the weather. And on the time of day.
In the morning, sidewalks must be cleared and gritted by 7 a.m. Monday through Friday, by 8 a.m. on Saturdays, and by 9 a.m. on Sundays and holidays.
If there is slippery snow and ice during the day, clearing is done immediately, until 9 p.m. in the evening.
No salts may be used in Stuttgart, nor any other thawing substances.

For winter maintenance on roadways, the following applies:

• Roads are cleared and gritted between the beginning of November and the end of March.
• There are a total of 1,410 kilometers of roads in Stuttgart. Of these, around 955 kilometers are maintained by AWS and 80 kilometers by surrounding districts. The remaining 380 kilometers are flat residential roads. They are only serviced in winter in exceptional cases, such as when there is heavy snowfall or freezing rain.
• AWS divides its winter road maintenance into priority levels I, II and III. When all the associated tasks have been completed, the teams also check the level residential streets to see whether there are any dangerous spots, such as curves or junction areas. If so, they also clear or grit these areas.
• To keep roads safe, salt is needed at times. The principle here is "as much as necessary, but as little as possible." AWS implements this with so-called pre-wetted salt spreading: Salt, i.e. sodium chloride, is moistened directly during spreading, with a brine of sodium chloride.

Stuttgart Waste Management has its divisions audited every year. The core business of residual waste and recyclables collection is put under the microscope, as are the areas of landfill, bulky waste collection, problem waste collection, container collection and recycling centers.
These annual audits help AWS to continuously improve its services and internal processes.
At the same time, it ensures transparency that defined standards apply and are audited.

The audits are carried out in accordance with the Ordinance on Specialized Waste Management Companies (EfbV). It covers organization, staffing, documentation and insurance cover, as well as the expertise of AWS employees.

At AWS, there is a central point of contact for all questions: The customer service team will advise you on all questions relating to waste/recyclables disposal systems, dates, container emptying, fees, collection points/recycling centers, opening hours, container equipment, cleaning and winter services. You can also order green waste, bulky waste and express bulky waste from the customer service team. The team also deals with complaints.

Commercial enterprises, authorities, offices and public institutions can also obtain competent information here. For example, on the legal framework (laws, ordinances, statutes) or on the latest recycling and disposal technologies.
